The telecommunications industry, faced with ongoing profitability (competition) problems, needs to offer more and more elaborate and complex services, technological changes driven by performance, reliability and availability needs, must be effective and rigorous while maintaining a high level of innovation.
This industry must adapt its management tools to the requirements of its market and consider approaches that have already proven themselves in other areas. Thus, Product/Process/Resource - or PLM - type management initiatives arise in the form "Products, Services, Equipment" and, in coming years, will form the cornerstone of future integrated management systems in the world of telecommunications.
